Workday Recruiting is now live at Waterloo

Wednesday, June 25, 2025

Workday Recruiting is now live. This new platform is designed to enhance hiring procedures, deliver a better recruiting experience for candidates, and provide University administrators with information to support data-driven decision making.

Streamlined recruitment and hiring processes will be provided through Workday Recruiting, which will simultaneously reduce the hiring timelines and improve efficiency, consistency, and tracking. New features, such as the Jobs Hub and Talent Profiles, will enable the University to effectively find and select the most competent candidates for employment.

This project was a concerted effort among a cross-functional team from Human Resources (HR), Information Systems & Technology (IST), Change Management, and Deloitte, our third-party implementation partner.

For employees

All employees will see the new Jobs Hub as part of their Workday experience. Within this application, employees can explore and apply for new career opportunities; set up job alerts based on keywords, job types, and more; and view your application status.

Employees will also have Talent Profiles, a service that enables them to update and document their skills, experiences, and training beyond the scope of University training, which includes education and certifications. Additionally, employees can add interests and career aspirations to support their job applications.

For hiring managers

Hiring managers will be able to initiate job requisitions, have visibility into candidate status, provide quick access to reports related to recruiting, and extend offers more easily with the new Workday recruiting dashboard application.

Go-live support

To help in the transition to Workday Recruiting, resources are available. The Talent Acquisition team in Human Resources will be hosting online information sessions to demonstrate the new technology, features, and procedures, and answer any questions.  The schedule for upcoming Teams sessions is as follows:

For Hiring Managers

As we complete the talent recruitment phase of the project, there are additional exciting and noteworthy initiatives on the horizon, including Workday Talent Development. This component, currently under development, will offer tools for goal setting, performance and skill development, feedback, goals tracking, among other resources. More details regarding this next stage of the Strategic Talent Development Framework will be made available in late 2025.
