Reflections from Our Regent

marystatue-Patrones of CDA_Blessed Mother MaryThe very best day ever is the TODAY for all of us. It’s what we all have in common, actually, that and God’s love. We are so fortunate to have chosen a group of dynamic Officers this year with the addition of Vice Regent, Julie Parker, Financial Secretary, Betsy Jones, Kathleen Westfall returning as Secretary, and Cristina Guelda as Treasurer. Returning this year by request is the Novena to Our Lady Queen of the Apostles, the monthly CDA Mass to coordinate with CDA National “Friday, Pray for our Troops”, and in the spring, a ladies retreat. We said a fond farewell to our CDA Chaplain Father John Karanja and he will always be remembered when the bells are rung in Mass.  We have warmly welcomed Father Mike to St. Stephen Catholic Church.  He continues to inspire us with his enthusiasm and energy for the Love of God in the spirit of Fellowship.  Mother of Serenity Court is a place for women to find friendship, relaxation, and happiness; a place to pray and to serve God together. This Court began with 50 women with a vision of Charity, Unity and Service at St. Stephen Catholic Church and around the world, we will strive to continue their vision in the years ahead. The Living Memorial Education Fund has made it possible to continue to provide our parish with additional funds to enhance our CCD program. Through the grant process, we provided two 55-inch smart TVs for their classroom.  CDA celebrated with our youth as they received the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. We applauded the success of our graduates at the Baccalaureate Mass and presented Educational awards to 6 graduating seniors.
God Bless You all,
Francine Sours, Regent

St. Stephen’s Ladies Book Club

Book Selection:  Skipping Christmas by John Grisham.skipping-christmas

Imagine a year without Christmas. No crowded malls, no corny office parties, no fruitcakes, no unwanted presents. That’s just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they decide that, just this once, they’ll skip the holiday altogether. Theirs will be the only house on Hemlock Street without a rooftop Frosty, they won’t be hosting their annual Christmas Eve bash, they aren’t even going to have a tree. They won’t need one, because come December 25 they’re setting sail on a Caribbean cruise. But as this weary couple is about to discover, skipping Christmas brings enormous consequences—and isn’t half as easy as they’d imagined.

When:  December 13th @ 6:30 PM

Educational Living Memorial Fund for St. Stephen

The sole purpose of the fund is to nurture the spirituality of our youth through our CCD programs. This living memorial will give us the opportunity to honor the special people living today for their birthdays, anniversaries, or as memorial tribute to remember our loved ones and all the special people who have touched our lives. It is through this generosity that we are able to bring the love of God to life in very tangible ways.

More information about the Memorial Fund and the Donor Forms will be located on the table in the vestibule of the Church and the Church office.
